UPDATED NEWS: ‘Hide And Seek’: Former ‘Cosby Show’ Star Geoffrey Owens Joins Horror

EXCLUSIVE: Former Cosby Show star Geoffrey Owens is joining the cast of CJ Entertainment horror remake Hide And Seek. Owens will play the head of security at a housing facility who helps protect a family from attacks.

As we revealed earlier this week, Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors), Jacinda Barrett (Bloodline), Joe Pantoliano (The Sopranos) and Mustafa Shakir (Luke Cage) will lead cast in the film, which begins shoot this week in New York City.

Actor-director Joel David Moore (Youth In Oregon) is directing the redo of Next Entertainment World’s 2013 hit which took more than $35M at the Korean box office. Moore adapted the screenplay from writer-director Huh Jung’s original. Korean powerhouse CJ Entertainment, which is growing its U.S. footprint, developed the remake and is financing and producing the film.

The socially-minded horror, which nods to the crisis in affordable housing and the growing chasm between rich and poor, follows a man searching for his long-lost brother who stumbles upon a secret world of squatters terrorizing the homes of unsuspecting tenants.

Owens has booked a number of roles in recent months after some media outlets attempted to shame the actor for his job as a Trader Joe’s cashier. He was subsequently cast in noir thriller feature Fatale with Hilary Swank, in Tyler Perry’s The Haves And The Have Nots, and was set to guest star on NCIS: New Orleans. He is repped by Semler Entertainment and Singular Talent.
