SPORT NEWS: Antetokounmpo missed Bucks vs Wizards clash with sore quad

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo sat out from last night’s encounter versus Washington Wizards wherein his side went down fightijng 113-106. He missed out of action due to a sore right quadriceps. An early MVP candidate, Antetokounmpo had missed just two other games this season. He is averaging 26.6 points, 12.8 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game.

Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer claimed that Antetokounmpo was injured a couple of games ago but carried on before the risk of a glaring injury came close. In Milwaukee’s previous game, a 116-109 win over the Rockets on January 9, Antetokounmpo was the star performer and tallied 27 points and 21 rebounds.

In Antetokounmpo’s absence against Washington, Khris Middleton led the Bucks with 25 points and eight rebounds. However, his efforts went in vein.

Recently, Antetokounmpo had brushed aside MVP talks and stated,All I care about is winning, to be honest with you. I know by winning — doing whatever it takes out there, helping your teammates and just leaving it everything on the floor — everything will take care of itself.”

Even Houston Rockets’ coach, Mike D’Antoni, praised Antetokounmpo. “He’s not normal. I mean, that guy is 7 feet and has the [body] control, and all that he does. The guy is a great, great player, so he’s in the [MVP] conversation, because they’re playing so well. And he should be, but we’ve got a lot of basketball left. We’re only halfway there. He and James are up there with a couple of other guys, and it’ll sort itself out.”
